I am not feeling well today.
Why?
I have consumed a lot of junk.
Things have been going well for the past few weeks.
And I got lousy.
My routine was going well.
Business was on track. Growth. Results. Productivity.
Everything was on point.
And this didn’t go well with me.
So, I decided to risk everything and disturb my routine.
This led to chaos.
My:
👉🏼 Sleep cycle was disturbed.
👉🏼 Stomach is like a fireball.
👉🏼 Head is exploding.
👉🏼 I am having cold sweats.
My body is trying hard to push out all the toxins it can.
The only remedy I have right now is water.
I am clearing up all the junk in my body through crystal-clear water.
You don’t want to end up like me. Seriously.
There is nothing good about this.
If you know me, then you know that I see every setback as an opportunity to grow.
I am going to turn this chaos into an opportunity.
Rebuild my routine. Focus on skill development and consistency.
Here’s a framework that I am going to implement and you can too.
Framework – Rebuild and Enhance Routine (R.E.R.)
This 3-step framework is aimed at building better and unbreakable routines.
Recognize the Setback
The first step towards long-lasting habits is to identify the cause.
Reflect on what led to the disruption. E.g.
- Poor diet
- Lack of sleep
- Stress
This step should help pinpoint the exact actions or habits that triggered the setback.
In my case, it was:
- Going out a lot.
- Not prioritizing my sleep.
- Eating a lot of junk food.
And this impacted my whole pre-set routine and productivity.
Next, you are going to understand and feel the impact:
- Assess how the disruption affected your productivity, health, and routine.
- Understand the short-term and long-term consequences.
The final step in your assessment is to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Accept that setbacks are part of the journey. No need to beat yourself over the past.
- Think about the lessons learned to prevent future disruptions
Now, use this assessment to create a plan for moving forward.
Sometimes, the problem is in you. And avoidance is not the solution.
Rebuild Your Routine
A healthy and well-planned routine leads to good results over time.
Frequent disruption will break your momentum and you will run in a circle.
To tackle this, you should:
- Establish a consistent daily schedule.
- Set regular times for sleeping, eating, working, and relaxing.
- Use a planner or calendar to stick to your schedule.
Never compromise on the following:
Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night.
Diet: Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.
Exercise: Incorporate regular physical activity into your daily routine (e.g., 30 minutes of moderate exercise).
And keep your body and soul alive. For that, adopt the following:
🌿 Practice meditation, deep breathing, or yoga to reduce stress.
🌿 Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to stay hydrated.
🌿 Take short breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge.
Skill Development for Consistency
Before you can do master your niche, you must learn to master yourself. Build monk-like discipline.
Here are three ways to do that:
- Set clear, achievable goals for each day, week, and month.
- Find an accountability partner to keep you motivated and on track.
- Reward yourself for meeting milestones to reinforce positive behaviour.
You can set all of this in Notion. Such as: managing your tasks, and digital planners to keep yourself organized and stay on track through habit trackers.
And most importantly time management.
Consider every second you make use of turns into a penny.
And there are 86400 seconds in a day.
If you utilize half of them, you will create a value of $432.
And that is all you need to do consistently.
I can guarantee you will become a millionaire in 3 years.
For time management, read my previous issue. OR, implement the following:
- Use the Pomodoro Technique: Work in focused intervals (e.g., 25 minutes) followed by short breaks (e.g., 5 minutes).
- Time blocking: Allocate specific time slots for different tasks and activities.
- Prioritize tasks: Focus on high-impact tasks that align with your goals.
Now, all of this sounds good.
How do you manage this?
I know you are a lazy bum but still ambitious enough to take action.
So, to help you deal with procrastination, I created a Notion template to help you rebuild your routine.
Notion Template: “Freelance Routine Rebuilder”
Use this template to track your progress and stay on top of your new routine.
Recently, I have realized that there are lots of grammatical errors in my newsletter.
Mainly because I am publishing these in real time.
I have no time to edit these.
Anyhow, I have implemented a process to help me proofread my newsletter issues from now on.
Hopefully, you won’t be seeing such trivial mistakes anymore.
Other than that, do reach out to me.
I love connecting with new people.
Freelance life can be boring and pretty lonely.
Let’s connect and create a cohort.
Waiting,
